We were founded in 1973 by Doug and Linda Gabel, as a training facility for show dogs. In 1979, we began breeding show quality Cocker Spaniels, and we added Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu breeds in 1984.
Both Doug and Linda are American Kennel Club-certified breeders. We are licensed by the State of California. Please contact us with questions about any aspect of our business. We’re always happy to hear from fellow dog lovers.

About My Dogs

I have trained and showed many dogs over past 20 years, mostly Saint Bernards and Samoyeds. They have all made me very proud.
I decided 5 years ago to start training and competing with adopted rescued dogs. I find it to be a wonderful challenge to receive a dog that I know very little, if anything about- unknown breeding, health issues, temperament or intelligence. Most are adults and we have no way of knowing what these dogs have endured, how they were treated, trained (if any at all), illness, injuries, etc.  I have found that these rescued dogs try so hard to please their new owner and are truly grateful for a loving and caring home. There is an adjustment period and time is needed to rebuild the trust between the human and the rescued dog.

I have been so fortunate to have received 2 wonderful
Rescued Saint Bernards-Hummer & Tundra.
Hummer's mother came from a puppy mill located in North Dakota that was closed down due to the lack of shelter (no shelter in the middle of winter) and lack of proper care of their dogs.  The Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation  stepped in and took these dogs into their care. Hummer was born in foster care. His mother had 7 puppies and weighed only 60 pounds, she was a year and 1/2 old and this was her second litter.
Hummer has just turned 6 years old and has earned over 45 titles in Obedience, Agility, Rally, Carting and is currently working towards many other titles including Tracking. He was the top USA Performance Saint Bernard in obedience and agility for 2010 and the only rescued saint ever to receive these honors. He has just been awarded The SBCA Top Agility Dog for 2011 (the 2nd year in a row).

Tundra was rescued by the Foundation after being turned into the animal shelter with her mother to be euthanized.  The owner was unable to confine the dogs and they wandered the streets in Oregon.  Tundra was kept in a crate next to the euthanasia room at the shelter for a month and had never been separated from her mother until now. The Saint Bernard Foundation  rescued both Tundra and her mother. I received Tundra the next day at the age of 8 months and over 100 pounds.  She was a handful!  A year later she has earned over 20 Obedience/Rally/Agility titles, Draft Dog Title Excellent/Team Title and her Canine Good Citizen Certificate. She is also working towards many other titles including Driving.
Tundra is the highest titled Draft Dog, DDX, DD & TDD, in the USA and the first dog to earn the Draft Dog Excellent Title ever.

We were so honored to be able to attend and proudly represent Rescued Saint Bernards at the National Saint Bernard Speciality in October 2009 at Hood River, OR.
